Production #2

    So far in my production phase, I feel pretty confident and content with what I have produced. I have not yet completed production, but I have begun to film and edit a good percentage of my opening scene. This includes the opening credits and the first scene of my film. To get a good feel of the results of my scene, I have chosen to both film and edit as I go. This way, I will be able to see if I need to redo a clip or create it a different way before I get too far into editing. However, there are a few concerns regarding heading into postproduction. The biggest concern I have is being able to make my edits look real and believable. I want to be able to convey and fast paced special effects. With lots of time and attention to detail, I feel that I will be able to create these edits to the best of my ability.

Semester 1 Reflection

Semester 1 Reflection Reflecting on my progress in the Media Studies course, I feel as though my relationship with media has changed  drastically. Prior to taking this course, I did not thi nk much about what really goes into making and producing a film. I would just watch a movie  almost mindlessly , and my b rain would be tricked into the idea that everything just  almost magically  falls into place. However, after learning and working  through  units on aspects such as cinematography, mise  en  scene, editing, sound, and much more,  my eyes and understanding have begun to open on the reality of media.    I did not realize how much the little components can make  a big difference  in a film.  Small things  such as costume, composition, and even  different types  of  shots can all help to create and convey all kinds of meaning.
