     My knowledge of cinematography helped to inform my artistic choices in my video in many ways. We really wanted to tell a story in this film and we also wanted me to make sure everything flowed accordingly with our theme of the video. For example, we utilized multiple cut on action shots in the beginning of the video to help bring the viewer along the story with us of getting home from school. Through learning about cinematography and practicing with the different types of shots, we were also able to include mid shots, an establishing shot, angled shots, close ups, long shots, and even moving shots. For example, we filmed a close up shot of my phone in my hand when I was pressing play on the song. Putting full focus on the phone helped the viewer know exactly what was going on without confusion.   Prior to this course, I had brief experience with camera and film making skills. In my younger years, I had gotten into making short YouTube videos with my older brother. I would typically enjoy filming slime related videos, and he would enjoy making video game related ones. We utilized ou r mom’s old iPad and set up books on a table to sit the camera on top of. Once we were done filming and cutting all of the clips, we would transport the footage into the iMovie app, to add captions, audio s, transitions, and much more enhancements. Overall, we didn’t have much of a plan , but we had concepts of a plan. Many important film aspects such as lighting, costume, and makeup were not on our radar at this stage of our filmmaking journey.   Having been in this course, I feel that my knowledge and skills as a filmmaker have greatly increased .
